Growing up deaf in one ear, Rick had a rough time learning. At 15 he left school to work at a bakery but not long after the pressures of young adulthood got to him.
He often thinks back to the day when he drove to a Lithgow cliff face and made a very important decision.
Not jumping and persevering through his problems would be a recurring theme in his incredible life story. Many good times would come but much heartache as well.
Rick now lives in Peats Ridge and is preparing to retire from his successful showbag business. He hopes to spend more time with his wife and nine children.
